Why We Do What We Do

Ocean Integrity was born out of the need to heal and restore the damage we have collectively inflected on the worlds oceans and waterways.   We are fishermen, office workers, parents, children, entrepreneurs and more.  People – just like you.

Focusing on addressing ocean plastic waste, particularly microplastics, is of paramount importance due to its detrimental effects on marine ecosystems and the subsequent impact on human health.

Microplastics, resulting from the breakdown of larger plastic debris, pose a severe threat to marine life by killing plankton, the foundation of the oceanic food chain. Plankton plays a crucial role in maintaining the balance of marine ecosystems and supporting the global oxygen supply.

The decline in plankton populations due to microplastic pollution could disrupt the entire marine food web, leading to cascading effects on fish stocks and ultimately affecting human food sources. Furthermore, the ingestion of microplastics by marine organisms can result in the transfer of toxic chemicals up the food chain, potentially endangering human health through seafood consumption.

Prioritizing the mitigation of ocean plastic waste, especially microplastics, is essential for safeguarding marine biodiversity, ecosystem health, and human well-being in the long term.  This is why we do what we do.

By intercepting plastic enroute to the ocean via river collections and cleanups and also by fishing the plastic that is in the ocean out of the ocean using local indiginious fishermen, we help provide a livelyhood to them and their families, we clean the ocean and prevent additional microplastics being created from the breakdown of plastic in the water.  This helps clean the environment for planckton and other marine life, creating a win for all.

By purchasing a bracelet you help fund these cleanups.  Thank you for your support.
